Day 32: Modern Idolatry

Exodus 20:2-3 (HCSB) ² I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the place of slavery. ³ Do not have other gods besides Me.

Matthew 7:24 (HCSB) “Therefore, everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them will be like a sensible man who built his house on the rock.

 

Idolatry. When we think it is about worshipping statues, we laugh at those hwo do it. But when we define it properly as putting something -  anything above God -  we cringe.

 

How many times do we place things above God -  material things like cars, money, etc.

How many times do we place entertainment above God -  TV, movies, music.

How about family? God loves the family, but He is supposed to come first.

Church? Do we place too much emphasis on doing for church rather than seeking God?

 

Most of these things are not bad in themselves. God actually uses all these things for His glory. But that’s the point. It’s about His glory. Not about us, about Him.

 

Tear down your idols. Focus on God.
