Day 6

James 4:3 (HCSB) You ask and don’t receive because you ask wrongly, so that you may spend it on your desires for pleasure.

 

James is sometimes so harsh! And so right. Sometimes we act so childish. God help such and such – because that would help me. Wrong motives.

 

Matthew 15:8-9 (HCSB) ⁸ These people honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. ⁹ They worship Me in vain, teaching as doctrines the commands of men.”

 

We have to be careful what we teach as “from God” We must honor God with our hearts, not just our lips.

 

Amos 5:21-24 (HCSB) ²¹ I hate, I despise your feasts! I can’t stand the stench of your solemn assemblies. ²² Even if you offer Me your burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept [them]; I will have no regard for your fellowship offerings of fattened cattle. ²³ Take away from Me the noise of your songs! I will not listen to the music of your harps. ²⁴ But let justice flow like water, and righteousness, like an unfailing stream.

 

Bring us back, Oh God to you!
