Day 4
Matthew 5:28 (HCSB) But I tell you, everyone who looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
Okay. This one is a delicate issue. No one likes to admit to lust. I mean it’s one of the really bad sins right? Not like innocent gossip or slander or lying… certainly we don’t lust, do we?
Okay, enough of that. Just listen to God’s voice and be obedient to specifically confess the lustful thoughts and make a decision to change (repentance always includes the commitment to change). Replace these thoughts with other things. Build fences to prevent participating in the activities that cause these thoughts. Don’t read trashy stuff. Don’t look at sexy ads. Cancel the Sports Illustrated subscription. Don’t watch the movies that lead to lust. Those are the don’ts. What about the do list: Do read the Word. Do fellowship with Godly people. Do encourage one another to good works and good thoughts. Do memorize scripture to replace these thoughts. Keep on renewing your mind!
Romans 12:2 (HCSB) Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.
Memorize this and repeat it aloud when tempted to watch or look at that which leads to lust:
Psalms 101:3 (HCSB) I will not set anything godless before my eyes. I hate the doing of transgression; it will not cling to me.

We have to remember that the sin of thought is anything, and I will repeat anything that is sin. Lustfull thoughtss are not always related to a sexual thought. Paul tells us that we can lust after the flesh, well our flesh likes to do many things. That flesh is sinful and we must keep sin where it belongs. SIN IS SIN. And God wants wants us to battle against sin in our thoughts first so we won't act on them. Remember that even our thoughts of getting angry and bitter, and selfishness, greed, keeping my mind busy with anything that is not of God, is sin. We have to remember that when God speaks to our hearts of sin it is not our perseptive of big sins or little sins, it is sin that will put anything before God. In the book of Exodus God says he is a jealous God and NO ONE nor NOTHING can take that place.
God told the children of Isreal that they had iniquity in thier hearts that they were were adulters because they put thoughts and other things before Him. And he called for repentance and a love relationship with HIM. That is our GOAL, a deep love relationship with the Father
We need to also remember that not all thoughts are sin, sometimes they are temptations.
Someone once said that you cannot stop a bird from flying over your head, but you can keep it from nesting in your hair.
Passing thoughts are temptations and should be rejected forthright, so they do not become sin.
Although lust does not always relate to sexual sin, the scripture referenced in this post is referring to sexual sin.
