Day 11: Favoritism

James 2:1 (HCSB) My brothers, hold your faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ without showing favoritism.

James 2:4 (HCSB) haven’t you discriminated among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts?

 

The attitude of favoritism can infect the body of Christ so quickly we don’t even realize it. Do we treat those who don’t come as often with the same respect as the regulars? What about newcomers or seekers? Is there a particular type of person we show favoritism to? Do we have “names” or slurs for a group of people? These attitudes lead to evil thoughts! We must forsake them.

We can encourage and train in righteousness without showing favoritism. We can share concerns without being discriminatory.
