Day 16: Rotten Words

Ephesians 4:29 (HCSB) No rotten talk should come from your mouth, but only what is good for the building up of someone in need, in order to give grace to those who hear.

Ephesians 5:4 (HCSB) And coarse and foolish talking or crude joking are not suitable, but rather giving thanks.

 

Are you building people up with your speech? Are you giving grace to those who hear you? Do you participate in course jesting… or do you stand by and give your assent by not saying anything?

 

Matthew 5:37 (HCSB) But let your word ‘yes’ be ‘yes,’ and your ‘no’ be ‘no.’ Anything more than this is from the evil one.
